Bengaluru remains top tier-1 city for hiring, says Randstad Talent Insights Report 2023

Bengaluru has retained the pole position as the top tier-1 city for hiring across industries and most levels of experience, according to the Randstad Talent Insights Report 2023 shared exclusively with ET

The report is based on a survey which provides hiring insights across the four sectors of construction and infrastructure; telecom; retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and fast-moving consumer durables (FMCD); and energy and utilities.

Bengaluru dominated in energy and utilities jobs, creating 29.35% demand in junior level hiring, 38.16% in middle level hiring and 35.87% in senior level hiring, according to the report.

“Over the last year or so, we witnessed some imbalance caused by global volatilities, especially in the tech sector. However, given the current scenario where organisations across sectors are looking to restructure and strengthen their workforce, we anticipate a strong rectification in terms of hiring intent,” said Viswanath PS, managing director, Randstad India.“Government initiatives are set to amplify this transformation further, leading to the creation of new job roles in sectors like telecom, construction and infrastructure, retail, FMCG and FMCD, and energy and utilities,” he said.Given the steady increase in the spending power of consumers in tier-2 and tier-3 markets, job creation in these deeper pockets of the country is picking up pace to meet the increased demand, said Viswanath.

Among tier-2 cities, Vadodara emerged as a strong hiring hub for construction and infrastructure, and energy and utilities sectors. Jaipur, Thane and Coimbatore emerged as talent hotspots across all four industries and experience levels.

In the construction and infrastructure sector, Thane stood first in junior level hiring (15.21%), and second in middle level hiring (14.82%). Lucknow, Coimbatore, Mohali and Chandigarh were strongly emerging cities across different levels.
